Hello Reader, Terracotta rooftops shimmering in the Tuscan sun. The Arno River flowing beneath centuries-old bridges. Footsteps echoing across cobblestones once walked by Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo. Welcome to Florence. Or as I like to think of it: The city that makes every other city feel like it isn’t trying hard enough. Some cities have great food. Some cities have incredible art. Some cities have fascinating history. Florence checked all three categories and said, “Why not all of them at once?” This is the birthplace of the Renaissance. A city where masterpieces aren’t tucked away in one museum — they’re everywhere. Around corners. Inside churches. Standing in piazzas. Looming over entire city skylines. It’s the kind of place where you’ll casually walk past buildings that are older than your entire country. And one of our favorite things about Florence is that it’s incredibly walkable. You can spend the morning admiring Michelangelo’s David, wander through bustling leather markets in the afternoon, stop for a giant plate of fresh pasta and a glass of Tuscan wine, then finish the day watching the sunset from Piazzale Michelangelo as the entire city glows gold beneath you. If there is a better way to spend a summer evening, we haven’t found it. And then there are the little moments, like crossing Ponte Vecchio and peeking into the tiny jewelry shops lining the bridge. Standing beneath Brunelleschi’s Dome and wondering how on earth somebody built that in the 1400s. Ordering gelato “just because” and then immediately deciding a second gelato later is also justified because you’re on vacation. Researching Renaissance history all day and somehow ending up discussing which pasta shape is objectively superior over dinner. The usual. The problem with Florence is that there is so much to see that planning a trip can quickly become overwhelming.
(Our official position is that there is no upper limit.) Our Florence itinerary covers the iconic highlights, the can’t-miss viewpoints, the best food experiences, and all the practical details you need to make the most of three unforgettable days in one of Italy’s most beautiful cities. Here’s exactly how we’d spend 3 perfect days in Florence!
